Each summer, with Opération chaises longues (Operation Deck Chairs), deck chairs are put out for public use in Geneva’s parks. City residents are also invited to take part in a number of fun activities.
During the summer season, hundreds of deck chairs are made available to the public in several of the city’s parks.
Along with the deck chairs, a range of activities are organized:
- free apples are given out
- outdoor barbecues
- mobile books: this initiative aims to get so-called second-hand books out to the public; the books circulate among readers and are eventually returned to the cases set aside for that purpose
- various summer events
